My name is Reid and I created this site to help other beginner SEO enthusiasts learn search engine optimization quickly and easily. The contents of this site will provide some basic SEO guidelines and resources that will assist you as you move toward your ultimate goal of understanding search engine optimization. Beginners Guide to SEO

As you browse this site my hope is that you will reference the information as your own personal beginner SEO guide, full of information and links to help educate you about the latest trends and news in the world of SEO. It truly is an ever-changing world, but certain SEO principles remain steady and these are things you need to know! SEO Beginners Start Here

You might be asking questions at this point. Where do you start? What is the most important thing you should do first? How can you prioritize yourself just to get started? I'm glad you asked! Here are my "First Four" rules for beginner SEO:

  1. Treat each page of your web site as an individual entity. SEO principles should be applied to each page of your site, not just your home page.
  2. Choose topic appropriate keywords and phrases for your site. Since this site is for SEO beginners I make sure to include a sufficient number of keywords that are relevant to what you want to know. This way my site finds you versus you having to find my site.
  3. Remember the importance of your page titles. Your page title should include your keyword or phrase. Do NOT make the mistake of having your business name be the title for every page. Odds are low that people are searching for your business, and much higher that they are searching for a product or service you provide.
  4. Make sure to work in your keyword or phrase at least a few times throughout your page. Just don't overdo it. Write naturally and make your page readable. A few mentions should be sufficient for the search engines.

Let me stress that these are simply very basic principles for SEO beginners, and not a comprehensive guide to creating an effective SEO strategy. You know what they say- walk before you crawl.
